The gallery
A quiet practice,
conducted in patience.
Cranford Rare was founded as a private gallery for three of the most enduring collecting categories of the modern era: nineteenth century photography, antiquarian books, and high-grade sporting cards.
We do not hold inventory; we hold pieces. Each work is examined in hand, catalogued for provenance and condition, and offered only when we would be content to keep it ourselves.
Our clients are curators, novelists, the children of librarians, and the sort of collector who would rather wait a year for the right cabinet card than settle for two of the wrong ones.
Photography
Albumen prints, daguerreotypes, ambrotypes, and tintypes from 1839 onward. American and European studios; named sitters preferred.
Antiquarian Books
First editions, fine bindings, and gilt-tooled leather. Strong in nineteenth-century literature, natural history, and travel.
Graded Cards
PSA, SGC, and BGS slabbed pre-war and vintage sports cards. Eye-appeal first; numbers second.
