- Heyn's Stereoscopic Views, No. 2 — “Bird's Eye View from High School Tower (10 subjects).” Yellow card mount with arched twin prints; side titles “HEYN'S ARTISTIC VIEWS” and “CITY OF OMAHA AND VICINITY.” Verso prints the same 51-subject series list and 1509 Douglas Street imprint as the companion view. Faint pencil annotations: “175” at upper left and an inscription reading approximately “Bridget St 1900” at lower right (likely a later collector note).
From the Omaha High School tower, Herman Heyn surveyed the city’s industrial heart. Smoke from the Union Pacific rail yards and smelting works drifts toward the hazy horizon, defined by the broad Missouri River. This stereoview belongs to a multi-subject sequence created from the same vantage, representing part of Heyn’s early and systematic effort to produce a panoramic record of the developing city.
