A bust length studio portrait of a young Indigenous man, made in the 1870s. He is bare chested above a buffalo robe drawn over his lap. The sitter wears a cloth turban, shell or silver pendant earrings, and a bead choker with a central pendant. A pencil inscription in the lower margin reads "Omahas."
The photographer was A. C. Hull, whose imprint identifies his gallery on E Street in Fremont, Nebraska. Hull's studio was situated on a primary route between the city of Omaha and the Omaha and Pawnee reservations.
