Subject

Origin
Jackson Brothers studio, Omaha, Nebraska

An early commercial stereoview from the Omaha studio of William Henry Jackson and his brother Edward. The elevated perspective looks west down Farnham Street, where painted signs for hardware and leather goods mark a new commercial district. Further in the frame, the nascent city grid dissolves into the Nebraska prairie, a composition that anticipates the grand western landscapes for which W. H. Jackson would later become known.
