A young Pawnee man, identified as Little Bat, holds a bow at full draw for the studio camera of the Jackson Brothers in Omaha. This posture of staged action is an uncommon choice for a formal portrait of the period. The image is a document from the Jacksons' extensive series depicting Indigenous leaders and delegates, many of whom sat for the photographers while passing through the city in the years before William Henry Jackson joined the Hayden Survey.
