Daniel Waldo, a clergyman and former chaplain to the House of Representatives, was among the last known surviving soldiers of the American Revolution at the time of this sitting. His carte-de-visite portrait by N. A. & R. A. Moore is presented opposite a chromolithograph of his Syracuse residence. The project's compiler, Rev. E. B. Hillard, documented arriving for an interview only to find the centenarian dying from a fall, securing a final testament to a life that spanned the nation's history.
