A dimensional study of the Maine residence of William Hutchings, derived from an 1864 chromolithograph by Bingham & Dodd. The reconstruction is faithful to the architectural details of the original plate, from its hipped roof to the adjacent barn, while the terrain and atmosphere remain interpretive. This model lends speculative form to a historical document, envisioning the Penobscot homestead first cleared from the wilderness by the owner's father after 1768.
